The case for dualling the A358 and designating it as a trunk road as a way of improving the region's road transport system is simple. It can be summed up in three statements:

• The A358 is the preferred route to link the M3 and the M5. It will unclog the economic potential of the whole region.
• Dualling the A303 instead would ruin the Blackdown Hills. This option is undeliverable and unnecessary.
• The A358 scheme is the only viable one. We need it now.
